Kanawa Island



Place:

Kanawa is a beautiful tropical island of about 28 Hectares, fully surrounded by natural reefs. It consists of two main white sand beaches and one small, hidden sand cove. At the center of the island a hill guarantees astonishing 360 degrees views all over Komodo National Park, offering one of the world's most spectacular sunsets. Located just at the boarders of Komodo National Park, Kanawa Island is the perfect destination for exploring and diving in the Komodo National Park. This wonderful tropical getaway is only one hour away from Bali International Airport.

Regular flights every day, 50 minutes with Trans Nusa, 80 minutes with Merpati and Lion Air Labuan Bajo airport has connecting flights also to Ende and Kupang.


By Sea (ferry):
Travel time: approximately 36 hours
The gateway cities of Labuan Bajo is also connected to Denpasar, Bali by inter-island ferry. Contact the Indonesia Sea Transportation Company (PELNI) at Jalan Raya Kuta No. 299, Tuban - Bali (Tel: 0361 - 763 963) to reserve a seat on the KM. Tilong Kabila or Willis, which depart Benoa Port, Bali bound for Labuan Bajo.

By Sea (live-aboard):
Komodo National Park is serviced by a wide range of live-aboard boats, with return packages to Komodo National Park from a variety of departure points, including Bali, Lombok, Bima and Labuan Bajo. Liveboards departs also form Mataram and GiliTrawangan in Lombok with Labuan Bajo as destination.




Price:

Kanawa Beach Bungalows is the only resort on the island. The resort has 18 bungalows, 9 bales and a camping area. There are 4 room options– a bungalow with private shower & toilet (about $35 / night), a bale or straw hut with shared toilet & shower (about $15 / night), a tent with shared toilet & shower (about $10 / night), and your own tent (about $7.5 / night). Rates may change depending on season and availability. Rates include a basic breakfast (2 slices of bread, an egg, a brownie, a banana, and tea and coffee) but exclude 10% tax.
